Subj: RE: [kl] Reginald Kell -- Mozart Concerto reissue
Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 16:09:38 -0500

Ken Shaw noted:

<<<Reginald Kell's first recording of the Mozart Concerto, with Malcolm
Sargent and the London Symphony, has been reissued on CD as Testament SBT
1007. It also has the Mozart Trio with Frederick Riddle and Louis Kentner
and the Mozart Quintet with the Philharmonia Quartet, all from 78s of about
the same era.>>>

. . . now on my shopping list.

Does anyone have knowledge of how the 78s were recorded? Did they use tape
at that time -- and were therefore able to splice -- or was each take a
complete performance of the music on each "side"?
