I couldn't disagree more. I find clarinet to be a very easy instrument to
start on and reach a level of enjoyment, including for very young students
(third grade and up).

I try to imagine what you are finding that makes it hard for beginners (or
intermediate players) and all I can think of is maybe bad equipment or
improper embouchure and hand position, both of which I find are easy to
teach. And easy to detect in the case of bad equipment or reeds.

Perhaps I'm missing the point of your post and you're saying that it's a
difficult instrument to learn *without instruction,* in which case I agree,
and add that any instrument would be equally so.
