Is there any way we can put the semantic struggle over Nazis and
anti-semites to rest or at least take it to private email? Of all the
topics that have wasted space recently (and there have been a few) this is
one of those on which the parties to the disagreement will obviously never
agree and I for one subscribe to this list to glean wisdom related to
clarinet related topics.

Maybe we could put a different spin on this and discuss whether a work of
art exists independent of the ideology of its composer. For example,
Wagner was undoubtedly a despicable little man full of hatred and venom,
but I would hate to be deprived of his music.
