Fascinating statement, although the fact that I cite this particular
part of your post is clearly a digression from the subject from which
it originated. But wow, do you really believe what you wrote above?
I've not found most people to have a guiding passion in their lives
which you suggest above. Most people seem to be in survival mode,
going through the motions, taking pleasure when opportunity arises,
but not focusing their energy or their lives on the basis of a spe-
cific goal or mission. Perhaps you're just saying that a mission
exists for each person, whether they acknowledge/pursue it or not.
'Sorry, this is distinctly un-clarinet related, but I grapple with my
own passion for clarinet and music quite a bit these days, still trying
to figure out exactly how I'm going to channel it for the next 45 years
or so. It's been a difficult year...2000. Now that there appears to be
a light at the end of the tunnel, I still face the obligation to answer
this question about what to do with the clarinet and music.
