I am trying to make sense of the mountain of words on this topic in

I understand what has been said to be as follows: [snip of what I
believe is an accurate summary]

One thing that I've noticed at almost every master class that I've
attended is the instructor's comment that students advance to high
levels of technical proficiency much more rapidly than they did 30-40
years ago, and thereby (the instructors have said) musicality tends to
get left behind.
My own technical proficiency is still at the 'klutz' level; but
regardless, my teacher seldom lets a lesson go by without making some
version of her statement to "just put your fingers down somewhere and
play the odds, and think about musicality instead. What are you trying
to say with your notes?"

....."well, teacher, I'm trying to talk about lame ducks....."
<evil grin>

Cheers,
Bill
