Unless it doesn't, which leaves room for another purpose.

Interpret things through your own little filter, Tony. I won't try to
dissuade you. You may think that my interest in technical issues and
development implies a lack of musical understanding. Luckily for me,
I know more of myself than you do and don't take your opinion to heart.

No need. I'm no longer interested in that particular discussion.
If it's for somebody else's interest or benefit, then by all means
...so to speak.

Wrong. Has it ever occurred to you that for many players, there is a
pleasure unique to the experience of one's own technical development,
separate from any musical purpose it may serve, and that this unique
sense of fulfillment is in itself a valid purpose?

> So-called 'technique' that doesn't serve the music, just ain't technique.

Actually, that previous sentence is bullshit. Your choice to invalidate
your own technique if it doesn't serve a musical consideration stays with
you and applies to nobody else. Your opinion that anybody *else's* tech-
nique is meaningless without a musical purpose is the essence of bullshit,
because you are not -- and never will be -- in a position to speak for any-
body else on the matter. If you seek only to associate with those who sup-
port your opinion, then you're willfully preventing your own growth. Dare
I give you the benefit of the doubt?

> It makes me *puke*. It's the *worst thing*.

Your closed-mindedness is cause for vomit. IT is the worst thing.
