Generations bond in jam sessions of KlezKamp

For the last few days, the Hilton in Cherry Hill has become a modern-day
shtetl.

Students sit in classes learning the poetry songs of the Old World.
Dancers spin to
freylekhs and shers, traditional folk tunes. Musicians schlep clarinets,
drums and fiddles to impromptu jam sessions, playing into the early
hours.

This is KlezKamp 2000.

More than 500 adults and children from 15 states and eight countries are
attending
the annual folk-arts festival and rediscovering their Yiddish roots.

Traditionally held during Christmas week, the six-day festival, which
ends tomorrow, has ventured outside the Catskills for the first time.
