Actually, with the Rossi, it is unecessary. He uses a direct acting key,
which can be placed in the acoustically correct position entirely BECAUSE
there is no tenon and socket to avoid or work around (or through). I have
not played one, but have handled one (Lorne Buick's) and it felt so very
comfortable, whereas that key is normally my LEAST favorite on the whole
clarinet!
