I want to point that the klezmer you are talking about is mainly the
East-European one whish was revived some decades ago. But, there is another
sort ok klezmer which is rooted in the tradition of the Land of Israel for
some hundreds of years and it is worth listening to and discussing it.

Herewith I attach some of the sites you can start searching the subject.

There is no such thing as a "Klezmer tone". Might you mean all those
wonderful other sounds and ornaments that we Klezmorim do? I use a
standard symphony setup with a VD#4.5 reed. The "tone" comes from a
concept of 'singing' rather than just 'playing'. The whole approach of
a folk musician to tone is to sound like a voice, with all it's swoops,
etc. NOT TO SOUND "PERFECT" AND UNBLEMISHED!! (such as in so-called
'serious music'). In Klezmer, we are trying to sound like the
synagogue Kantor or just someone praying - full of emotion and verve but
not worrying about "nice" tone.

I understand what you're saying. My Klezmer library is very
limited... only 1 CD. By any chance do you own a copy of Feidman's
"Concert for the Klezmer"? If so, I could use it as an example in
order to ask a couple of specific questions.

Thank you,
Bill
