Bill Hausmann mentioned that this key configuration weakens the
instrument--that is quite true. The lower joint has a tendency to crack
where the G# hole is on the tenon socket--even when the socket is lined with
metal, as it is on my older Buffet with that key. There's also not much
space to get in there and pin the break once it happens, either. The best
way to have this design made up is a one-piece design like the Rossi.
