It IS do-able, but not easy for the uninitiated. Try to find a basic
repair manual first, like one of the very general ones designed for school
band directors. You'd probably have to go a music store/repair tech to get
the materials anyway. The cost per tenon cork INSTALLED is only about $10
or less, so it may be smarter and even cheaper to let the pro do it. When
I do them myself, my usual error is sanding too much off, and having to
start all over with another piece of cork!
