Basically, it is the same thing, but on a smaller scale. And, unless you
have a one-piece body, there generally has to be a hole in the upper joint
tenon to line up with the C#/G# hole in the lower joint socket, which
weakens things somewhat. The key is mounted on the lower joint. They were
all the rage on early Selmers, judging from the eBay listings.
