The Mazzeo mechanism is relatively simple. That's part of its genius. Also,
the patent expired years ago.

There are a number of people who could add the Mazzeo mechanism to a new
instrument and also raise the register vent. Steve Fox is probably the best
bet -- he's an instrument maker and will do alterations on other makers'
instruments. (He's making a new key for a Selmer contra-alto for me right
now, as well as installing an altissimo vent and possibly lengthening the
bell.)

You should also get in touch with Sherman Friedland, who has his own area on
Sneezy. He studied with Mazzeo and played Mazzeo instruments for many years,
and he could certainly help you find a restorer or a spare instrument.
