Thanks for the informative responses everyone.

I gather from the replies citing inconsistency with the B45 that it could
actually be my mouthpiece that is causing my instrument to sound a little
flat. Guess a Chromatic tuner is now on my wish list. Asked about
mouthpieces at the music store where I bought my clarinet, and they only
stock standard student Yamahas. Will have to search around if I want to try
before I buy!

Thanks Annie for the info on the reeds. I imagine they are a little hardier
than cane reeds, so a good idea for my daughter? Mind you, she has been
pretty good on reeds this year so can't complain really, just thought of the
consistency as you mentioned.
