Bass clarinets are very unforgiving of ANY air leakage when playing in that
range. Check especially the pads under the thumb and both pads controlled
by the left index finger F#, and that the second register vent pad (that
opens for throat Bb) is not lifting AT ALL when playing in the clarion
range. (The voice of experience talking.)

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
