The B-45 is a very popular mouthpiece, but like all hand-finished
mouthpieces, they can be variable from one example to another. If yours
works well, don't knock it. I personally think the facing is kind of long
for a beginner, but that is just my opinion. The Woodwind K10M I have been
using lately is almost squeak-proof. It responds very smoothly across the
breaks. If you want a big sould like the B-45 produces, the Selmer C85 115
is good, too. Jewel mouthpieces are also nice. There have been many good
comments on the list about Clark Fobes' mouthpieces, but I have not tried
one myself. Whatever you get, if at all possible, try it before you buy it.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
