Geez, Kevin! Nobody has ever put it in such clear terms as that! Now I fully
understand my addiction and can get over my feelings of guilt for being at
work all day and not being able to play. Perhaps if scientists could come up
with some sort of clarinet patch, it would make all our lives easier. Maybe
tape a reed to your arm?

P.S.-"Very wierd" isn't the worst thing in the world!

Kevin sez:
Dear Lacy: that would be weird. Belay that -- having telepathy with other
human beings is weird. Telepathic contact with inanimate objects would
qualify as "very weird."

I believe what you have is an addiction. Unlike nicotine, there is no
convenient patch to wean yourself off of it. (Duct taping an eepher to you
leg won't work, and will be very inconvenient besides. The pointy end is
quite sharp.)

There is no "clarinet anonymous," either; when found in groups, clarinet
players tend to do it *together.* Indeed, the folks on this list actually
reinforce the addiction!

I'd like to be able to offer words of encouragement, but I haven't been able
to quit myself. As far as I know, there is no known cure.
