According to the catalogs, the Vito VSP is a wooden instrument while the Vito II was a plastic instrument. Which one do you really have?

The best way to progress smoothly and quickly is to find and study with a good teacher. This prevents you from developing bad habits, helps eliminate ones that you may already have, prevents you from going down dead ends, and helps keep you motivated. Also instructors will generally know of local community bands that you can join. Getting involved with such a group will also help keep you motivated.

Welcome to the fun.
