My favorite one (I looked in the archives but could not locate it) was
someone's analogy about "'lifting' 100 pounds of music." To train for such
an event, the professional practices by "lifting" 150 or 200 pounds of
music, so the actual performance is a breeze by comparison. The amateur
practices by "lifting" 50 or 75 pounds and prays for a miracle during the
performance! Whoever originally posted that one please come forward and
claim credit, correcting my recollection as necessary.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
