As someone who has very strong reasons to be on Julius Baker's side in
this discussion, because I not only played chamber music with Julie, but
stayed with him and his family in his house for a week, learning about
CB radio and Gomberg, and fooling around with his dogs -- (T: "They're
nice, aren't they?".... J: "Well, nice for Dobermanns!") -- I
nevertheless think it's worthwhile cutting gtg a bit of slack here.

Players are all opinionated about other players ("that Gomberg..!"), and
playing 'killing the Buddha' is a fact of life.

gtg's impression of Julie is drawn from much more limited sources than
ours. So his comment isn't really a comment about Julius Baker, but
about his *idea* of Julius Baker.

Not that you weren't right to complain....:-)
