Subj: [kl] Michael Bryant reports on Schubert Octet
Date: Sun, 17 Dec 2000 18:41:23 -0500

Lovely review, but I still don't know who was playing clarinet so
beguilingly on the Vienna Octet recording. I do know that the reviewer
perceived it as a better performance than that given by the Vienna
Konzerthaus Quartet assisted by some also unnamed musicians.

But who was playing clarinet????? Perhaps Peanuts Hucko?

I also feel very guilty, thanks to the reviewer, for not knowing the
clarinet player's name because his review, in mentioning 'THE VIENNA
OCTET" (which screams off the page) sort of reads that he is chiding me
for not knowing who the clarinet player in the Vienna octet is (or was,
at a distance of 45 years).
