I'd say, Alfred Boskovsky. I'm not certain, though. Mike Bryant will
know.

I'm surprised that you don't know Alfred in a more definite way than
that, Dan. Although I haven't investigated recordings of the Mozart V
or Brahms V for many years, I recall thinking that Alfred Boskovsky's
performances of both of those pieces were really outstanding. I once
owned 12 recordings of the Brahms V, and played all of them up to the
double bar on a really silly evening. I thought that Boskovsky's was
the best.

The Mozart of course, is, or so I thought at the time, canonical.
Perhaps I'd think differently if I heard it now.

Of course, it wasn't the most original performance....or the most fooled
about with performance....
