Recently I had a yen to hear the Schubert Octet, so I went in to the
local Wherehouse and got a recording with Willy Boskovsky and the Vienna
Octet. On listening to it, I was captivated by the exquisite clarinet
playing and examined the recording (a CDROM, of course), only to find
that, except for Boskovsky, no names are given. The other work on the
disk is the Grand Duo in A minor for violin and piano and that is listed
as Franco Gulli (violin) and Enrica Cavallo. (I only mention this work
to help identify the particular recording.)

Does anyone know who might be playing clarinet on a recording of the
work made in 1953 in Lugano, Switzerland? Who was 1st clarinet in the
Vienna Phil. at that time. Boskovsky was playing the violin of course,
and I know that he had a brother who played clarinet, though I have no
idea who the masterful clarinetist was on the recording.
