Ian, now you have embarrassed us all by divulging our genetic weakness - the fear of
an angry haggis. At the ceilidhs my great grandfather used to gather the youngens
around and tell them stories of his past. I remember him telling us that a Scot
should never go hunting for a haggis, especially if you are hunting with several
friends and you all meet the previous evening and spend too many hours making plans
for the hunt. If you do attempt the hunt you will only end up making the haggis mad
and he will always find you before you can find him because of his superior sense of
smell. It is a well known fact in the highlands that a haggis is able to detect the
sent of peat that always accompanies a hunter in those situations. Similar to what
happens if you eat too much garlic - it comes out of your body for the next two
days. Is it true that there is now a solution for this problem? I've been told you
won't give off this scent if you shop in the same part of town as does the Duke,
where you can't afford to buy everything you want for the hunt and have do choose
one item to go without. Personally, I would rather give up the hunt and keep the
other.
