Well, we are getting right off the subject
of the clarinet and its music now!!
Lead me back gently!

I have more experience of island hopping
in Indonesia, than in Scotland.
That is no help at all....

You can fly to Mull.
It has an airport at Pennygown
Go to the village of Killichronan
2 miles away on the west side
of the island and negotiate with
one the lobster fishing boat captains.
Staffa is 14 miles away from Killichronan.
(so the round trip is 28 miles)
It is sure to cost you 100 ukp
so you better make up a party

It is equally difficult to get to the beautiful
islands off the west coast of Kerry
like the Great Blasket or Skelligs.

I will ply the travel trade tomorrow
in office hours for the practical,
as opposed to this hypothetical, answer.

P.S. I would just like to say how much we have enjoyed
playing the arrangement of the 'Hebrides Overture'
for clarinet choir made by Daniel Freeman.
under the supervision of Harvey Hermann.
Like many of their arrangements, it requires
2 E flat clarinets!! I had the privilege of meeting
Mr Hermann in Champagne-Urbana while at an ICA
conference at the university. The clarinet choir of the
University of Illinois played it in Paris in 1981
