Ian! Where have you gone to?!
Please excuse me answering?

On Staffa, an uninhabited island in the
Inner Hebrides (Argyllshire)
It is 8 miles west of Mull
The well known (by name)
basalt cave is 227 feet long
and has an entrance height of 66 feet

Mendelssohn was there in 1829
and wrote the overture in 1832

Michael (Nasmyth) Bryant
