What key indeed? This raises an interesting question. What key or
mode would I be in if all of my F's were natural, yet all of my C's
and G's were sharp? Almost D melodic minor, but I don't know what
effect the G#'s have on that tonality. Almost simply A major, ex-
cept the F-natural makes it sound like harmonic minor at the very
end. Curious. Is such a tonality, be it interpreted either in D
or A, theoretically defined? The augmented 2nd between F and G#
seems to invalidate a conventional definition, except in terms of
a modified diatonic scale. I wonder if there's a name for it,
other than "D minor with a raised 4th degree" or "A major with
a raised 6th." Maybe I'm thinking too hard!
