I don't use enough reeds or have enough experience/skill to pass
judgment, but I *will* say that the last two boxes of Vandoren V12 that
I bought were miserably "like a board". It happened that I had a box
of Zondas (because they're my teacher's favorite and also someone on
this list was praising them). For the last few nights, I've begun to
question "why I am losing it" in the same way that Anne described, and
so I opened up the Zonda box and tried one. It gave me a full sound
with no hiss, which was a relief to me.
Who knows, perhaps Vandoren started harvesting a different plot of
cane recently and everyone is noticing it? It *is* a bit of a relief
to me to hear other people complaining as well. I was really wondering
what was going wrong with me. (Please don't answer that! heh)

There's always a silver lining. Now I have a reason to try
adjusting a reed or two. Until now, I've never needed to do anything
except minor balancing.

Cheers,
Bill
