Interesting point. But I have a theory that young sight readers TODAY have
more trouble with 3/4 time than they used to because they are almost
completely unfamiliar with it. The dearth of 3/4 time in pop music and
media generally makes the concept seem very strange -- kids simply can't
feel it. Pounding 4/4 rock beats have driven 3/4 time into hiding! When
waltz-tempo pieces were more commonly heard and thus more familiar,
students may well have grasped them better. I never had any particular
problems with 3/4, but my exposure was very broad when I was young (a long
time ago).

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
