Phrase or Tone. (see quotes below)

Given that one has decided to either stand or sit, could there be a conflict
of interest re breathing thereafter? Is the correct amount of air sufficient
for the phrase going to be the right amount of air to support the required
tone? If a large tone/sound is required for only a very short phrase, could
a small intake of air be sufficient? These sort of questions I must admit
seem quite logical if one groups tone and phrase in the one and the same
debate. So am I observing some debaters who are thinking only "phrase", and
others thinking only of "tone"?
I would say that these two "items" should be discussed as a complete entity.
Without air one does not have tone/sound. And without the <same> amount of
air one doesn`t have the phrase. Without planning the appropriate amount of
intake, one has neither. Am I wrong in thinking that as we come to be more
experienced players, we cannot, should not separate phrase and tone into
"left and right side of the brain" so to speak? A beginner will have
to - - - -? because a beginner needs, in their early stages to learn what
<each> is, as a separate item in their progression.
It might be possible to analyse scientifically how much air can be drawn in,
in relation to standing and sitting, but there, the science stops, and the
intuitive musicianship and practical ability then takes over, to
instinctively create "MUSIC".

>One of the major roadblocks to good sound production for many students is
that they do not have enough air >going in to properly support the air going
out.
