This statement was not necessarily about wind instruments. Although it referred to
Orchestral/Ensemble instruments (e.g. 'cello, harp, Bass Clarinet), it could just as well apply to
piano or (I should think impossible to play standing) organ.
Sitting slouched or standing slouched @-----.
Sitting (or standing) with proper posture = fine, whatever the individual is happiest with and feels
most comfortable with. I personally would stick to convention. Sitting in a group
(chamber/orchestral etc.) and standing as a soloist. I would feel most comfortable with that as it's
what I'm used to. If I were to play in front of an orchestra (not that I often get the chance!)
seated, I would feel self-conscious, my mind would not be wholly on the music and I think the
performance would suffer.
Just my £0.02.
