NO.
But it is easier to have the rhythmic pulse flow through your whole body
(whether creating visible movement or not) when not touching a static
surface midway.

As a *guideline* side to side motion can be easily overdone, while
vertical springiness is useful.

Darn difficult to demonstrate with words.

The more i improve my sense of rhythm and sense of posture, the more
important i find solid & balanced contact of my feet to the ground or
floor.
