I see that the 1st clarinet with the Israel Phil has opened up again.
Why is that happening so much? Over the last 30 years, that seat has
gone from one good player to another. Why does it not have the
stability of the NY Phil. or the LA Phil. It's certainly a great
orchestra, but why the musical chairs?

On the one hand it could be a temperamental maestro or poor working
situation, or other of the usual. OTOH, I suspect that the dangerous
political climate may have a lot to do with it. If i am going to work
somewhere, I certainly would like to make it to and from work alive. From
what we hear these days, that seems to be rather difficult to do there.
