Excellent point.

Most stock OEM mouthpieces are. Vito sells a clarinet model called a V40
that is basically a brush-finish Vito with bell ring, nicer case, and a
Woodwind K10M mouthpiece. I have just started using one of these as my
REGULAR mouthpiece, based on its much stronger chalumeau and better general
projection than my O'Brien crystal and smooth, effortless break-crossing
and overall response. Oddly enough, although it is much more open than the
O'Brien, I have been using exactly the same reeds. The V40 lists at $795
vs. $600 for the regular Vito.

I'm not sure I they are MY favorite flutes, but I own an Armstrong, so what
do I know? We have had a FEW problems with them, but we have several local
private teachers who swear by them.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
