I respectfully disagree. Several years ago Clark Fobes overhauled my 1935
Buffet which I believe was one of the last clarinets he worked on, and just
may have been one of the straws that broke the camel's repair back. Shortly
thereafter he went into mpc and barrel making exclusively. The reason is
that the alloy used for the keywork on the old Buffets is much, much softer
than the current models and Clark had a devil of a time getting and keeping
the horn in adjustment. But Clark should give the definitive opinion on the
details of overhauling old Buffets.
