There are many ways to do this. If the student is a true beginner, then
Ishow them the different parts of the instrument and how to put it together.
Next, I explain how the sound is made, describe the embouchure, and have them
play the mouthpiece hoping to get close to a high concert c. Then I show
them correct hand position and proceed with explaining the rudiments of music
including fingerings.
