Thanks for all the replies to my post, sounds like quite a common complaint.
To answer Karl Krelove the pain is in the outer part of the elbow.
I have a thumb rest, and I tend to break my practice sessions up into
shorter sessions,which is what my teacher suggests but I have not tried a
neck strap yet. I usually play standing up so resting it on my knee is not
an option. Maybe my elbow will get used to it after I have been playing for
a while.
I would be interested to know what is the most popular position whilst
playing, standing up or sitting down, I find it more comfortable playing
standing up.
