I would highly recommend that the third CD be klezmer. Even for people not
already interested in Jewish/Yiddish music, that's far and away the best
music for taking full advantage of all the sonic and psycho-acoustic and
anthropomorphic qualities of the clarinet, and kids especially just love
the rhythms and the energy and the sheer emotionality of the music. And
nowadays there is a full spectrum of klezmer substyles available, from
klez-jazz fusion to "classic" klezmer that replicates the traditional
European sound. If this is of interest, your best bet would be to consult
Seth Rogovoy's recent book "The Essential Klezmer" (an annotated
discography) or Ari Davidow's Klezmer site (www.klezmershack.com).
