<><> My thought was to recommend 3 CDs, one classical, one jazz
and one something else (rock? dixieland? crazy ensemble stuff?).

JAZZ: Kenny Davern --- "Kenny Davern and the Rhythm Men", which
is in print, or "One Hour Tonight" which is harder to find (Musical
Heritage Society has it). Both CDs are straightforward jazz, music
that you'd expect to hear at a high school dance, nothing weird, but
equal to Goodman IMO, especially since they are quintets (quartets?)
rather than larger bands and they will show the young person more of
what's possible on jazz clarinet. "My Inspiration" (traditional jazz
again, not religious) is with an orchestra, but Davern carries the ball
for most of this CD also.

CLASSICAL: Assuming that a young person isn't quite as
'intellectual' about music as an adult is, Tony Pay in Saint-Saens
"Carnival of the Animals" to demonstrate playing clarinet with a full
orchestra, or Emma Johnson's "Encores" for solo and duet performances,
would be more likely to entertain a young person.

SOMETHING ELSE: Giora Feidman --- "Concert for the Klezmer".
It's not typical Klezmer music, it's full orchestra including timpani
and marimba with some classical overtones and Prokofieff, etc. It's an
amazing recording (IMO) and it's guaranteed to show a young person a
sort of music that he or she normally wouldn't imagine from a clarinet)

Cheers,
Bill
