Tony,

Probably all of us have had some kind of elbow pain at one time or another
that seems connected to playing the clarinet. Is the pain on the inside of
the elbow (as you curl your arm up) or the outside (the back)? Break the
practice sessions into shorter bursts, put the clarinet down, and straighten
your arm and move it around periodically so it doesn't cramp. I've never
played with a neckstrap, so I have no first hand experience with one, but a
lot of players find that they help.

Subject: [kl] elbow pain

Hi
I started learning the clarinet about 2 weeks ago and am now experiencing a
pain in my right elbow,
that I suspect is a result of supporting the weight of the clarinet in an
unaccustomed position.
Has anyone on the list had a similar pain and if so did it go away in time.

cheers
