Wow Tony, great advise!
For me, enjoying the nervousness and just listening
and paying attention to the measure I'm playing, works
best. Zen masters might say "staying in the moment."
Once you tell yourself "don't be nervous" or "you
have to play your best" IT'S OVER!
Other little things that have helped include
memorizing the music, eating a banana, no caffeine for
48 hours prior, and letting go. You are going to play how
you are going to play, anyone can win any audition on any
given day, it doesn't make you any better or any worse
by winning or losing!
