What I don't get is why these directors can't hear and see the obvious
struggles and inevitable failures caused by such actions. Just because
professor X said something in methods class 15 years ago, they take it as
gospel, regardless of the evidence. If all of his students are playing the
same mouthpiece, and have exactly the same jaw and dental structures, MAYBE
it makes sense. In the REAL world, however, it is entirely possible that
his top player will be better off with a reed MUCH softer than the next
one. I'll bet the football coach doesn't insist on all the players wearing
the same size cup!
