American cusine indeed. Someone also mentioned "creative
cusine" in reference to the Scottish varities. This bring to mind a
dinner held in Aylesbury at a pub which shall be nameless. This
was our annual "Toastmasters International" Christmas dinner and I
was present in two capacities--one as the President of my local
British club (although a Yank) and as a member also of the Yank
group. As such I did not speak but arrainged the menu for the
evening to include Haggis, served as a side dish along with the
traditional Roast Duck. Our American friends were not told what it
was. Some suggested it was "stuffing" others some crude replys
concerning stuffing it (ladies were present).:, Our topic for the
evening was "Will the Haggis ever replace the Hamburger?" The
winning speaker reported that Haggis when shipped to the US for a
food fair could not be allowed to enter as a foodstuff, but only as
fertilizer. As he was from the US Embassy we lauded his
understanding of the product. Actually, most of them liked it--me
included.
