If the teacher did this with the student without every talking to you, you
should speak to the teacher immediately and resolve this. If that fails,
you should contact his principal and visit seriously about the issue with him.

It's always so difficult thinking that people in our profession should be
more professional and more knowledgeable about what they are doing. It is
unfortunate when we run into people who have such a mindset that they can
threaten our feelings of worth through our own students! I'm sorry that
you had to deal with this kind of a teacher.

However - I still think you can do his program and students a world of good
if you take a few moments and try to educate him. It may not pay off at
all - but you will be no worse off then you are now!
