<< Greetings Klarineters,
If you've ever been pregnant can you tell me: >>

I always played throughout my pregnancies. In fact, during the first
one, I was in a summer band and was told that the audience began taking bets
on whether or not I would be able to finish the series! (The baby was born a
few days after the final concert.)
I found that playing was no problem, except for a decreased capacity to
sustain legato passages (and the difficulty at that time in finding "concert
black" maternity clothes!). It had absolutely no effect on the baby that I
can determine - position, manner of delivery, birth presentation. The only
thing I ever noticed was that they seemed to recognize the sound of the
clarinet, much like they recognized my voice. And they could sleep through
my practicing from day one.
As far as a normal delivery, I imagine you could play the next day - but
you'll likely be too busy! My daughter was born just 2 weeks before solo and
ensemble contest, and I managed to not skip anybody's lessons, so I was
playing right away (though minimally). I would think that the recovery time
would be longer after a C-section.
Congratulations to you!
