You're right, Tony! I have been trying to convince the public for years.
Sometimes they get it. But many times my "clients" (drunks in the local

Watching a televised Moody Blues concert on PBS last night, I was observing
that (aside from the saxophone which is often heard in rock music), the flute
seems to be one of the more prominently featured wind instruments when bands
of that genre do include winds right up front (Moody Blues and Jethro Tull
being probably the most well-known examples -- and now I'm talking about the
actual band members, not about the orchestra behind them). The light,
"pretty" sounds of the flute would appear to be a contradiction to the genre.
I would personally think that the richer sounds of the clarinet would fit in
a little better. But then, I may be a bit biased. <g>
