Even though I'm such a beginner I have yet to play a single note on the
clarinet (my new/used Vito went off for refurbishment before it could grow
warm in my hands and I haven't gotten it back yet), I can tell you that I'll
be leaning towards jazz and swing, with a little rock thrown in. It's not
that I don't love classical music, because I do. But as a percussionist I
preferred playing livelier music with a stronger, more defined beat, and
(blame the percussion!) I don't think I'll change my preference as a
clarinettist.
