Hi Martin,

I estimate that I got maybe 12 services out of each Legere reed. Thats about 2
hours of solid playing each rehearsal or concert. Despite what the advertising
says each reed would feel softer by the end of each performance. After I let
it sit for a day it would feel like it had returned to its original state. I
continued to use one of the Legere's after the Nutcracker run but neither reed
was the same after that (maybe they, too, were overcome by so much
Tschaikovsky!). Each reed definately has its own personality and I was lucky
to buy two that played well for me right off the bat.

One thing about these reeds is that I am unable to adjust the pitch up if I
need to. Wherever they blow, particularly below open G, that is what I get.
Playing second I have to pay particular attention to this. No, I am not
implying that others in the wind section play sharp....(Hi David!).

I am about to repeat my experiment this season. We'll see how it goes. My
heart goes out to all the other SND (Seasonal Nutcracker Disorder) sufferers in
the orchestra world. May you be blessed with only three run-throughs each
rehearsal of each waltz and the Pas de Deux numbers!
