<chuckle!> I'm sure that I would! In fact, I rented one 9-12
months ago and enjoyed it, but I had to face the fact that learning two
instruments at once was more than I could handle. I expect that Roger
G. still remembers my beginner's mis-description (on this list) of how a
bass clarinet embouchure differs from a Bb or A embouchure.
Besides which, the peg on the instrument that I rented kept
slipping. I had to use a pair of pliers to tighten it each time. I
don't care what they say, it does not look 'cool' for a musician to pull
a pair of Vise Grip pliers out of his bass clarinet case.
