Actually if I recall, you just started playing a little over a year ago. So
it seems to me as if you went to the altissimo D too soon and it is not so
strange that you are just now playing the E. The altissimo D is fairly easy
but the E can be tricky as it tends to want to jump into another harmonic.
This is useful later when you need to go higher but is a nuisance at this
stage of development.

There is enough to work on in breath control and support, embouchure control
and support, reading music, learning dynamic control and a host of other
things that it is perfectly reasonable to leave the altissimo register until
one's second year of study.
